Charlie's First Birthday

Charlie's first birthday was busy!  By the time we were ready for dinner and cake, Charlie had fallen asleep.  We put this cupcake on him for a picture, and then woke him up so he could eat dinner (pizza!), eat a cupcake (his first!), and open presents.
Pizza is one of the foods he always eats.

He wasn't so sure about the cupcake.  He played with the icing and ate a little.
It's good to be ONE!

The Sunday following his birthday, we had his party with the family.
It was beautiful outside, so we were able to play in the backyard.
Patrick watched Daddy and Uncle Michael play table tennis.
The guest of honor was ready to open his gifts.

"Ooh!" Charlie inspects his gifts.
This picture cracked me up.  I don't know what I am so excited about.
Grandma makes the BEST cakes!  She is so talented!
These are the first birthday bib and napkins that Jim's mom got to go along with the cake and cupcakes she made.  So cute!

Patrick was excited to sing to his brother.

You'll notice my hand, Patrick's hand, and Jack is starting to move his hand toward the lit candle.  We were concerned Charlie would try to touch the flame.  Luckily he did not.
Jack helped blow out the candle.  Happy birthday, Charlie!  You are loved!
