Labor Day Weekend

We had a busy and fun Labor Day weekend.  It started off Friday night with a 50th birthday roast for my Uncle Steve.  I didn't bring my camera, so I don't have any pictures to share, but we had a lot of fun.  Steve built a throne out of a tree stump for the roast.  The weather was great and it was nice to catch up with lots of relatives.

Jim's sister and her family were in town and we spent a good part of Saturday and Sunday hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house with them.  On Saturday, Jack and I went to a first birthday party at the zoo.  I asked him to stand in front of these flowers for a picture, and this is the pose he gave me:
The party was a lot of fun.  We got to pet quite a few animals.  Here Danny, the birthday boy, is petting a chinchilla.
Jack got to pet a bearded dragon.  Ironically, one of his favorite songs at the moment is Puff the Magic Dragon.
The birthday cupcakes were quite generous.
On our way back to the car, Jack and I decided to ride the train.  It was sunny, so he wore the sunglasses he received as a party favor.
Jack and Patrick really enjoyed all the time they got to spend with their cousins this weekend.  Jack was particularly excited about seeing Colin!
On Sunday evening, we went to a friend's for a BBQ/diaper party.  They were generous to supply us with diapers for the new baby.  Here is a group shot of the kiddos:
Goofy pose:
Patrick found a guitar and played with it for awhile.  The boys are fond of things that are like Daddy's toys.
Today, we had my parents and Uncle Michael and Auntie Kathleen over for lunch to celebrate my Mom's birthday (which was last weekend).  The weather was amazing!  After Patrick's nap, the four of us went to a park for a short hike.
We came within 10 feet from a couple of deer!
Patrick started in the backpack.
Jack enjoyed running ahead of us on the trail.
Then, we let Patrick down so he could run with Jack.
We signed Jack up for soccer this fall.  It starts next weekend.  Since I will now be a "soccer mom" we figured we needed a minivan.  A couple weeks ago we traded in Jim's car for our new swagger wagon.  We love it!

Awesome that you got to enjoy a great Labor Day weekend right before your real laboring began!

Swagger Wagon! Awesome!

I also really love the picture of Jack where the sun is glancing off his hair.

Sorry we weren't at the Diaper Party to wish you all luck, we didn't know about it until after the fact. :( Glad he is here now and everyone is doing well!

Don't you just love mini vans? We have had ours for 4 years now and it is great!
