The Rest of July

At the beginning of July, we got to visit with A and give her birthday gifts. It was the first time we had seen her since she left us last November. None of us thought we would go so long without seeing each other.  She wasn't told we were coming, and when the door opened and she saw us she got a huge smile on her face and ran out to hug each one of us.  It was so awesome!  Everyone was so excited to be reunited!

After we got back from Colorado, we resumed our usual activities, such as family bike rides.
We stopped at the Kirkwood train station to read the plaque dedicated to Jim's Great Great Great Grandfather, Owen Collins, who donated the land.
The kids admired the plaque dedicated to their Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather!
It had been a long time since someone dressed up as a superhero at our house.
There is one family that we have spent a bit of time with this pandemic. All of our kids like all of their kids and everyone gets along (the adults like each other, too). On this afternoon, the moms took the kids for a hike.

We spotted a deer.  You can see it on the left, between the tree and fallen branch/tree.
After months without a playdate, Charlie and I rode bikes to pick up two friends and then rode to get snow cones.
On a hot day in July, Jack and Charlie decided to take a long bike ride together. They packed lunches, applied sunscreen, and hit the road.
Jack sent me this picture when they stopped for lunch.  Jack enjoyed the freedom of his bike this summer. He rode many places, crossing many highways.  I'm not sure I would have let him if I had known.  :)
Maggie is always eager to help in the kitchen!
We continued to swim in friends' pools!

Basement slumber parties with siblings were had!
Maggie loves a pool!  Our neighbors were lucky to score this big, blow-up pool and told Maggie she could come over anytime.
Nana made this DARLING dress for Maggie, with a matching mask!
The rain didn't keep us from enjoying the outside!
Jim became the chief of his department and we celebrated with a cookie cake. We are so proud of him!
