July 2019 part II, Yellowstone National Park

We drove the short distance from Grand Teton NP to Yellowstone NP and camped 2 nights at the Grant Village campground.  Our first stop was Old Faithful.  We hiked up a hill behind the geyser to get a good view.

Next, we took the kids to see the Grand Prismatic Spring.
The colors were beautiful!
Here is a smaller spring nearby the Grand Prismatic Spring.
Everyone helped set up the campsite. The temperature dipped into the 40s at night, but everyone did great.
We had one full day to explore Yellowstone and drove 160 miles, all within the park, that day.  At this stop, we saw a bison hanging out right by the parking lot (in the background behind the boys).
We also saw lots of bison alongside the road.
We visited the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.  We went to Inspiration Point and then we went back and hiked down to the Lower Falls.

Next, we drove by the Virginia Cascades and then stopped at Sheepeater Cliff for lunch.  Jim and the kids went over to the cliff while I organized the lunch stuff and brought it over to a picnic table.  As soon as I walked across the parking lot, I looked up to see Charlie at the top of the cliff!  I grabbed my camera to take a picture before telling him to get down.  You can see his yellow shirt at the top, near the middle in the picture below.
Jim assured me that it wasn't as dangerous as it looked and we let the kids continue to climb.  We didn't let A go far, though.
Some kids napped in the car for a bit as we explored the park. Then we stopped in Canyon Village for ice cream.  We continued our exploration and saw Sulphur Cauldron and Mud Volcano.  Along the path we saw more bison.

On the drive back to the campsite, we saw a wolf!
We also saw a bear!
We went back to our campsite for an early dinner, and then got back in the car to look for wildlife at dusk.  We were not disappointed!
We saw lots of elk.

We were fortunate enough to see a mama bear and her two cubs.  They were on one side of the road and then crossed to the other.  We sat and watched them for several minutes.

The next day we left Yellowstone and made the long drive to Glacier National Park.
