August 2021

August started with a graduation party for a friend's son.
Maggie and a friend played with water balloons in the backyard.
Jack had an opportunity to go to Sea Base with a Boy Scout troop from Houston this summer. My cousin Johnny helps with a troop that had some extra spots. When we asked Jack if he wanted to fly to Florida and spend a week on a sailboat, he did not hesitate to answer yes!  One of his favorite dinners is chicken pot pie. I made him a sailboat-themed pie for dinner the night before he left.
The following pictures are from Jack's adventure.

While Jack was sailing, I took the other kids to a new exhibit in Forest Park.
Jim's sister and her family came in town. All the Kellys were in town except Jack, so we took some family pictures.
I photoshopped Jack into the photo.

Once Jack returned, we went on our annual family fun day outing. This year we went to Fisher Cave.

After our cave tour, we had a picnic lunch. We heard live music and Jim went to investigate. He found a shirtless man playing music and soon joined him.

Jim's band played a concert in Tower Grove Park one weekend. So fun!
Our relatives from Houston and Wisconsin came to town.

Patrick and Charlie played a little basketball after church one day. I had to take a picture of them dressed up and shooting hoops.

Jack had to wear a tie to his first day of high school. Jim gave him a lesson on tying that morning.

So handsome and ready to take on high school!

Jack's second day of school coincided with the other's first day of school so we did the traditional first day of school pictures. When Jack grows up, he wants to be a computer programmer.

Patrick wants to work at NASA.

Maggie wants to be a dancer. I should probably sign her up for dance class sometime.
The boy next door drives Jack to school.
Charlie wants to go into space when he grows up.

My good friends Connie and Kitty came to town for a weekend.  Connie enjoyed the Kettcar!
Cheers to almost 30 years of friendship!
We went to a Cards game on Friday night.

We had brunch at Sara's on Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon/evening was our block party. The weather was perfect!
Jim played music. A neighbor joined him for some songs.
The fire department brought a truck and sprayed the kids.
Some of the older girls provided face painting.

Some of the girls from the block.

Some of the adults from the block.

Jack sang a song or two with Jim at the end of the night.
On Sunday, we all went to a Cardinals game.

The kids got a free Cardinals bear.
Jim and I went on a day date to the National Blues Museum while the kids were at school one day.

Maggie's Daisy group crossed the bridge to Brownies.
One night Uncle Paul was at our house. Maggie realized she had a similar shirt and quickly put it on so they could be twinsies!
