Here are the pictures from May (excluding Maggie's First Communion). We started the month with an early flight to New Orleans for the Jazz Festival (and a conference for Jim). We enjoyed some crawfish bread that was recommended to us.
It was hot, but that didn't stop people from dancing. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street. There were lots of good sights to see. I thought our kids would enjoy playing chess on the busy street.
Friends were also in town for Jazz Fest. I met up with them for lunch at Port of Call while Jim enjoyed the conference.
One evening, Jim and I walked to meet up with Katie, a former coworker of Jim's and former volleyball teammate of mine. We stopped at Laffite's on the way. It is thought to be the oldest structure used as a bar in the U.S.
We met up with Katie on a rooftop of a house her friend was renting. Awesome views.
We had dinner with Katie at Flamingo-A-Go-Go and then we met up with another friend for a sazerac cocktail at the Sazerac Bar.
On another evening, we went to Frenchmen Street for dinner and live music.
The band at the Spotted Cat Music Club was great! You'll even find live music on the street corner on a weeknight!
My bar!
We did a little exploring and enjoyed lunch at the Gumbo Shop before our flight home.
These two crack me up.
The Scouts had a campout my birthday weekend. Jim went with Patrick and Charlie and I stayed home with Jack and Maggie. I think the boys had a good time!
While the boys were camping, Maggie had a fancy luncheon with all the other 2nd grade girls. It was a fun opportunity to wear their First Communion dresses again.Maggie enjoyed playing softball with her friends (after missing most of last season in a cast).
The boys came back in town on Sunday (my birthday). We picked up dinner and met friends at a nearby park for a picnic and to play. It was a great night. Then, we came home and ate a cake my mom made!
I was able to meet up with some high school friends for dinner one night.
My mom found a great deal on a new mixer. I definitely needed a new one (the grounding prong of the plug on my old one was missing, it made funny sounds, and you had to hold it just so as it mixed). So, I bought it. Then, I sent Jim this picture thanking him for the generous birthday/Mother's Day gift.
I made high school cookies for my students.
Maggie played field hockey this spring and her team took first in the tournament.
Maggie's Girl Scout troop got to walk the field before a Cardinals game!
They even made an appearance on the big scoreboard.
We moms enjoyed the game!
Jack had a day off school so Jim and I took him on a long bike ride. We bribed him with lunch.
Patrick enjoyed playing golf this spring. Unfortunately, he was only able to make a few matches.
