June 2023

This post is long overdue. June 2023 was busy!  We were excited to be back at the pool (these guys weren't actually too excited, but they posed for a picture).

Maggie went to a birthday party at a really fun pool.

It was the last year of machine-pitch softball for Maggie.
One evening after dinner, Jack, Maggie, and I went to the pool and we had the whole place to ourselves!
Patrick joined a golf league (and only made it a couple times all summer due to crazy schedules).

Maggie was the only Kelly on the swim team this year.
Instead of giving a birthday gift to her friends, Maggie took them out for the day.  It rained and we spent some time playing video games.

We had lunch at Steak n' Shake.
We finished with tasty Ted Drewes!
Jim and I saw Billy Strings with our niece and her roommate.
Cars and Guitars never disappoints.

Jim and I ran a race in our neighborhood.  I placed 2nd in my age group (out of 11).
Nana is our #1 fan at swim meets!

David and Melanie came to the States!  We went to a Cardinals game while they were in town.

Cousin time!

Toward the end of the game, we moved to some close seats.
We went to Pickle Springs for a hike with friends.
The kids loved to climb on the rocks.  One adult went off the path with her dog and got lost.

Charlie enjoyed great views from this rock.

We all survived the hike!
Jack built a little lending library for his Eagle Scout project.  His 2 younger brothers, who are also Boy Scouts, helped him get supplies.
After a long hiatus, my book club met again!

My cousin Katie hosted us one afternoon.  The kids had a blast in the pool!

The adults enjoyed food, drink, and conversation poolside.
I took these four to the Science Center and we stopped for a quick picture in front of their Dads' high school.

These two crack me up!

We went to a demonstration and Charlie was selected from the audience!
We hosted my mom's side of the family one evening. Lots of second cousins got to play together.

We enjoyed some washers.

Patrick pitched in a lot of baseball games.
After Mass, I promised donuts to these girls.  They actually were not impressed with the selection so we ended up going elsewhere for sweet treats, but got a picture in front of the store first.
On Father's Day, we went to Jim's friend's house for dinner and to hear their band play.  Jack was a good sport letting his sister and cousins fix his hair.

The rain pushed the band to the garage.
Doesn't his hair look great?
Patrick and Charlie were at Boy Scout camp, but Jack, Maggie, and I took the Aussies to the Arch.

After the Arch, we went to SLUH for a tour.  David got to see all the changes since he graduated and got to show the school to his family.
Patrick and Charlie spent a week at Boy Scout camp. We visited on family night.  They showed us around camp and we ate dinner with them.  We ended up bringing them home a day early because Charlie had a fever.

Twinning!  We did not dress alike on purpose.
At the end of June we spent a week in Michigan with my family.  The place my parents rented was amazing and included an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, tennis courts, ping pong, fire pit, and so much more!

We went to breakfast with just our little family one morning.
All the cousins!

Jim and I checked out the public beach near the cottages we usually go to.
A graham cracker eating contest with cousins.
The siblings and spouses by the firepit.
It was so great to hang out.
Jim and I snuck away to Holland one day.
The indoor pool got a lot of use!
The hot tub was also popular.
I took Adam's senior pictures.
Nana got the girls matching dresses.

The Patricks.

We played lots of games, too.

The tennis courts were used for hours every day.

We enjoyed a few bike rides.

Butch's Beach Burritos is a must!
There were some fun outdoor games in Grand Haven.
Ice Cream!
We got to celebrate Uncle Michael's birthday!

The water was a little chilly.

Fun at the Imagination Station!

Mom, Kathleen, and I took a walk on the beach. It was so smoky/foggy.  The fires in Canada were to blame for a lot of the smoke.

More ice cream!
